This selection is purely based on my interest in the subject and their usefulness to me at this stage of my blogging life. If you know other cool blogging videos ...we would love to watch them...
For now here are my favourites....
The first is on Video blogs - This blog is quite interesting as the author in 5 swift steps explains how you can create traffic to your site using videos ...all this at close to no cost
The second is on scheduling blogs - It’s not about how many times you blog, its all about how consistently you blog” This is all about time management and being a discipline blogger. It gives tips on how you to blog 3 times a week! Now that’s a challenge!
The third is on using screenr to post videos on ppt (This is new to territory me, I haven’t tried it yet, but you can bet when I do, You will hear about it. I am looking forward to playing around with this application!
I like this last video for the simple way it explains RSS feeds!

Limits are Limiting !
It's almost two months after the Web 2.O training @ ICRAF. An experience that influenced me to revive my blog. Thank to Giacomo and Nick!
So besides visiting the source of the Nile what have I been doing blogwise? I had set myself a target one blog article per week. Every day for the past few weeks, I consciously tried to see what I could blog about....and joted down the ideas on my notebook...but I never quite got down to posting....reason- Identity crisis!
Seriously...I was trying to find my way in the blogging world...And the only way I could do this was by reading others blogs...and I am glad I did! I stumbled upon some cool stuff and I will atleat 3 with you once we get this blog identity stuff cleared up...
I just couldn't decide what to feature and what to leave out. Should I separate my personal life from my social or professional life ? What should my limit be?
Is there a boundary between our professional, social and personal lives? We all wear different hats at all times.I am my daughter, grand child, sister, auntie friend and a journalist. All me.All the time. I dont stop being an auntie or friend while at work neither do I stop being a journalist when away from work.There is no boundary and so there is no limit. Every time I try to set a limit- I feel "limited". Limits are limiting ! So, I will keep this as it is - a No Limits blog with unlimited content on my work as well as my social experiences....But not to worry, I will tag and categorise the posts to help you find content that is relevant to you.
I am not an expert, but I like to learn and improve my skills and so it catches my attention, I will read it, if I like it I will share it. That's it!
Steal reading? Cool .. Well here are three cool things I stumbled upon in the past three weeks
Digsby, Wordle and BloggerTip
Digsby
If you are worried about spending too much time managing your different accounts,. Digsby is the way to go. It’s a great way to sync your updates on Twitter, Linked in yahoomail, gmail and other social networks. Is there a better application, out there? We want to learn about it. Once again thanks for the tips Grace!
With Digsby I got Xonbi by default! Xonbi ,is useful in tracking conversations and contacts...within one's networks. It also has some interesting stats on your email habits. Like, I learnt that on average, I respond to my emails within 43miuntes!
Wordle!
I stumbled upon this app on Linked in ..Wordle is all about word clouds, you can get creative with it or use to analyse research results, branded product or make your presentations interesting.( I used this to analyze our organizations intranet survey results and within 30 second I could tell what the key issues were! Plus my boss liked it!

Well, this is not an application, but a Twitter user. I stumbled upon a tweet by @BloggerTip on “How to Blog: Ten Great Blog Tips from our readers” a promotion by Problogger...and it proved to be a gold mine! I watched all the videos posted by ordinary users and got some simple tips that can help make blogging more interesting. What I liked about the videos was that none of the presenters claimed to be experts – just ordinary folk who enjoy blogging but gave advice that would cost you if you went to the “experts”! I have book marked all this on Delicious (The second social media site I use , most, the first being Twitter )

Living Outside The Box Sustainable Lifestyles
It's been three weeks away from my desk so this week I was backto my desk job... main task responding to emails..plus I had two newsletters to prepare - the first was ou internal staff newsletter Transformations Biweekly and the second the Collective Action News which is circulated to all CG centres.
They have both come laong well and I will circulate them on Monday...
In between all the editing and proof reading I got to watch an interesting film which shows why "stuff" doesn't make us happy but a sustainable life probably can,
It's style of presentation is simple yet it captures one's attention and keeps you listening to the message.
Hope you enjoy watching as much as I did...

My experience @ the source of the Nile....
As promised in the last blog, here are some amazing photos of the source of the Nile river taken in Jinja Uganda during the filming of Landcare docucmentray .
In simple terms ,the word Landcare is derived from two words - Land and Care and so means taking care of the Landscapes in sustainable ways...as well as caring for each other.
The evolution of Landcare began in Australia in 1986 when landholder groups initiated community-based activities to protect and regenerate the country’s land resources. Since then, various government programs have been developed and implemented to support local actions.
This innovation is of interest to many other countries address environmental challenges on sustainable land use. It has been long expanded from Australia to New Zealand and the Philippines, and continues to spread out in countries such as the United States, South Africa and Uganda and Tanzania among others. In changing landscapes and lifescapes, Landcare has become an important key driver in promoting sustainable management of environment and natural resources.

Feature on Tanzania Landcare
After a week of the Web 2.0 training, its off to Kapchorua, the highest point of Mt. Elgon at the boarder of Uganda and Kenya for the production of a documentary on Landcare in East Africa.http://bit.ly/dlnxGz Filming of Landcare in Tanzania was done in June and Kenya Television Network( KTN ) did the above feature on the project. (Sorry its in Swahili)
Yesterday we interviewed the chairman of the District Council who is an elected leader of Kapchorua and today will visit two projects - one on Kitchen gardens and the second a reflective cycle meeting by the community. A reflective cycle meeting is a household level meeting where the community meets and discusses implementation of projects , challenges and success stories based on what was recommended from a Farmers group meeting.
On Saturday we get to spend the day with a farmer ( Olive ) who is part of the Landcare project and will
also film a farmers meeting that Olive will be attending.
The Landcare innovative platform is unique as it shows how communities can work together with the local authorities in preventing environmental degradation as well as coming up with bylaws that promote Sustainable Land Management.
Landcare in Uganda s run by the African Highland Initiative (AHI) which is part of World Agroforestry Centre ( ICRAF ) East African region programme.

WEb 2.0 for Dev day 4!
Today was all about social networking sites and their benefits ...
Linked in was the site of choice during the morning session while facebook took up the afternoon session.
One of the concerns raised by participants on the third day was the lack of time to manage or posts updates with all the networking sites available.today , we got teh solution!
First solution
The “share it” application- found by clicking “More…” on the menu the search for it under the Applications directory. To have your Twitter update appear on Linked in you have to type the in (#in) then tweet and taraaa your post should appear on twitter and Linked In
Another useful application is that can help link your facebook, twitter, gmail and linked in account is Digsby. Thanks for the tip Grace!
Today I learned how to make and share professional presentations on Linked in! Still working on my presentation which will be up right after I upload my photos on flickr!
